封神之前戲─請眾仙 III

2002-2003

《封神之前戲―請眾仙III》一方面是過去幾年「請眾仙」系列的結語，另一方面也逐漸膨脹、衍生、開展成為下一階段新的創作系列。這一尊一尊的神祇，逐漸凝聚、顯影出楊茂林心目中營造的一個多幕式的劇場，一齣大戲，而這所有的全部，總合起來則只是一件作品。楊茂林希望藉由這件不斷發展的系列作品，來實驗傳統、宗教、工藝，與現代、卡通電玩、想像、創造……碰撞之後，所產生之對他而言非常有意思的衝突、協調、與扣接。

The Ceremonies before Rewarding – Inviting the Immortals III series can be seen, on the one hand, to conclude the Inviting the Immortals series, and on the other hand, to pave the way for my next project. As the next series continues to develop, it seems as if these God-like cartoon characters were gathering together on stage to perform a play. With this series, he hopes to experiment on the interaction between tradition/ religion/ craft and modernity/ imagination/ cartoon and video games.
